2019 Eastern States Kickoff Jackpot Show
We will not be having a 2018 show, but we look forward to seeing everyone again at our 2019 show. Please keep checking back for details.
The Virginia Hereford Association was formed in 1968 by Hereford breeders throughout Virginia with a great deal of support from the American Hereford Association. Forty-eight years later we are an organization with over 80 members throughout Virginia and neighboring states. The bylaws of the Association state that the purpose of the organization if “to promote the breeding of better Hereford cattle in Virginia and to serve the best interests of those engaged in the Hereford business”.
One of the avenues for the VHA to achieve its purpose was to create The Mid-Atlantic Fall Round-Up in November 2006.
This event was created by the Virginia Hereford Association to provide an opportunity for youth to show their Hereford Cattle in a breed association event. Since its inception in 2006, the event has had exhibitors from Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. This event has been a one-day event held in conjunction with the Virginia Hereford Association Annual Fall Sale.
In 2016, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this event the Virginia Hereford Association Board of Directors authorized this event to be expanded to a two day event and to hold the weekend event on a separate weekend from the VHA Annual Fall Sale.
Due to the success of the 2016 show, the VHA Board of Directors authorized the same event to be held on October 21-22, 2017. This two day event will take place at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Saturday activities will include the Mid-Atlantic Hereford Junior Round-Up Show in the morning and followed in the afternoon with an Open Hereford Show for all age exhibitors.
On Sunday morning, we will hold the Eastern State Jackpot Shows, consisting of two shows held concurrently in separate rings.
The Virginia Hereford Association is honored to have the opportunity to provide this Youth oriented weekend for the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond and we hope families will continue to look forward to this event each fall.
